Hot on the tail of Craig Reid joining the club yesterday another striker was not to be too far behind.  The Harriers manager Gary Whild today signed Reece Styche from Forest Green much to the chagrin of their supporters who had been hoping that he would be signing a new contract with them.

It's a bit ironic that we seem to be building up a stock of strikers, with six on our books now, and we go and sign one from a club well known to have far too many on their own books.  Maybe it's a change of direction from the Gloucestershire club and a new direction for us.  We now have, in addition to Styche and Reid, Michael Gash, Anthony Malbon, Nathan Blissett and Amari Morgan-Smith.

Styche started his career with Chasetown in 2009 but after scoring twelve goals in sixteen games he was snapped up by FGR and developed into a classy striker at Conference level.  Towards the end of last season he went out on loan to Wycombe Wanderers in January but, as at FGR, injuries limited his appearances with them and he returned to the New Lawn a few weeks ago with the club hoping that he would be signing a new contract with them.

His arrival here at Aggborough seems to signal the fact that our scoring record since the departure of Steve Burr was getting worrying and the amount of drawn games since Whild took over is testament to that and so Gary seems to be getting the front of the team sorted before tackling the other two areas with our right back position looking to be the next on the list with the imminent, rumoured, departure of Lee Vaughan to Cheltenham.
