Lee Vaughan The Harriers long serving (for modern day football) defender Lee Vaughan left the club today following weeks of speculation linking him with League 2 side Cheltenham Town.  A team managed by our former manager Mark Yates.

Lee joined the Harriers four years ago on May 11th 2010 and became an instant hit with the fans.  Ironically he didn't play in the first few games because of an outstanding amount of suspensions from his time with his previous club AFC Telford and, as it was, he came to us with the reputation of a bad boy and at first that seemed to still be the case with some gladiatorial performances but over the years his game mellowed somewhat and so did his tendency to pick up yellow cards.  Sadly some referees held perceived grudges and he'd often find himself booked for the slightest thing.

Lee could also chip in with a few goals too but mainly from the penalty spot.  His greatest asset though was his ability to go forward and play a telling pass for a goalscorer and because of that he was always high up in the assists table.

Now 27yrs old Lee started his career with Portsmouth as a youth player but joined up with Walsall in 2005 for a year before dropping into lower league football with Willenhall and then to Telford in 2006 where he built up a rapport with their fans to become something of a legend in their eyes, as he has done here for some.

Now he has a chance to achieve the same status in the Football League with Cheltenham and good luck to him.  He'll do nicely there and hopefully will be do as good a job as he did with us.
