During that same second half Josh Gowling went down injured for quite a length of time and later it was reported that he had possibly suffered a broken nose. Later news from today indicate that it's not as bad as first thought and he should be ok to play tomorrow evening.
We had a couple of debuts on Saturday with both Lee Fowler and Dior Angus acquitting themselves well while Jamie Tolley didn't really get enough pitch time to show what he is capable of. Jack Byrne (right) also made his first appearance following his season long injury from last season. We just need to keep him injury free now.
Alfretons opening game was at Dartford where they lost by the only goal. By all accounts they played well enough for a point but had no one to actually put the ball in the net. That was addressed today when they signed John Akinde following his release from Portsmouth at the end of last season.
Alfreton have a fair number of ex Harriers ready to face us with new signings John McGrath, Michael Wylde, Tom Shaw and Ross Atkins joining them recently while Dan Bradley had played against us last season.
A performance, such as we saw on Saturday, should result in all three points for us. Our previous results at Alfreton have always gone in our favour and I see no reason why that should be any different tomorrow night.
