Barnet will be turning up at Aggborough for the first time in thirteen years when we entertain the fellow play off chasers tomorrow.  The last time they came here, in February 2001, we were in our first season in the Football League and beat them 2-1 with goals from John Durnin and Drewe Broughton with the Barnet response being a superb goal from the former England star Tony Cottee.  That season Barnet were relegated back to the Conference until they regained promotion in 2005, the year we went back down.

John Durnin From that date until the end of last season they managed to just about survive back in the League but finally fell through the plughole at the end of last season and now, following a lacklustre start to the present campaign they are finally getting some kind of for back but it may now be too late to catch the likes of Alfreton and Nuneaton.  The same goes for us :(

Up until just after Christmas the legendary Edgar Davids was in charge there but a string of red cards interspersed with criticism of his non attendance at games led to him retiring from football then leaving the club completely a few weeks later.  Now with Ulrich Landvreugd and Dick Schreuder (I copy and pasted that) in charge they seem to be a more stable unit.

With the Dutch connections Barnet are a very cosmopolitan club and have a fair few players from other countries playing for them.  Three Spaniards: Roberto Casabella, Luisma Villa and Dani López, a Dutchman, Marciano Mengerink, Mauro Vilhete from Portugal and Valentin Gjokaj from Albania.

Of those Villa and Casabella won't be playing tomorrow and neither will Jake Hyde who is recovering from a hamstring injury.  Keanu Marsh Brown, Mark Byrne and Elliot Johnson are also doubtful with all three out injured recently and now making their way back.  Charlie Adams was re-called by Brentford last week so the management are looking at the loan market for a replacement in time for the game.

We'll be without Kyle Storer for the second game of his suspension but Michael Gash could be on the way back from his hamstring injury but I have been saying that for weeks now so maybe not then.  Adrian Cieslewicz is the biggest worry though following his collision with the Macclesfield keeper early on in our win on Tuesday evening.  At first it was thought to be serious when he was spotted on crutches later on but following a x-ray it's just badly bruised.  Even so it's very unlikely he'll be risked.

Chey Dunkley will be missing for almost all of the remainder of the season following his knee op last week while Jack Byrne is still out with a minor hamstring problem.  At least we don't have Freddie Ladapo with us for a month following his loan to Hayes just before the Macclesfield game.

Under Gary Whild the side are slowly starting to look better as a team although at times on Tuesday it looked totally the opposite with some of our passing being abysmal and then at the end of the game, with us winning, we sat back and let Macclesfield dictate the play even more as we resorted to clearing the ball aimlessly upfield only to see it come straight back at us.  It seems that the lack of confidence is still there and with it the nous of how to actually finish a team off.  We still need to be a little more ruthless in attack and also a little more solid in defence if we have any hopes of climbing back into the top five places with time quickly running out.

Do I expect us to win this game?  Yes I do because I think we now have a team playing for their manager and also Barnet are so depleted they'll be struggling to get a side together.  They'll be coming for a draw but hopefully it won't be enough.
