Date: 13-10-14 gif Harriers versus Spitfires
James Constable In a scenario that could only come from a Biggles novel the Harriers were drawn out of the hat for the 4th qualifying stage of this seasons FA Cup to find that our opponents also have a aeronautical nickname.  The Spitfires is the nickname of newly promoted Eastleigh due to the local airfield (now Southampton International) being used to build the Type F37/34 Spitfire during the 2nd World War.

Eastleigh were promoted to the Conference for the first time ever in their short history when they won the Conference South title last season.  They appear to be one of the richer clubs to have gained promotion in recent years and have been bankrolled by an insurance company for quite a while, the same company that also bankroll Oxford Utd.  With that investment they have bought in a host of quality players with the stand out names being Jack Midson from Wimbledon, Stuart Fleetwood from Luton and, of course, the former Harriers favourite James Constable (right).  Beano opted to join them after turning down a lucrative new contract at Oxford.

Although we will be playing Eastleigh twice this season we have yet to play them due to both games being pencilled in for the latter part of the season in 2015.  This FA Cup game will be the first ever meeting of the two clubs.

The game will be played at Aggborough on Saturday October 25th and if our tenants, Worcester City, beat Leamington in their 3rd round replay tomorrow evening they'll be playing Greenwich Borough on the Sunday 26th.
