Akwase Asante It's been two weeks since my last close season update and although it's been quiet at Aggborough I thought it was about time we had another.

First to Aggborough, the stadium, itself.  Work has now started on repairing the pitch with slits being made the length of it that will then see drainage dropped into them and filled over with sand.  Hopefully that will go a long way to solving the problems of last season when the pitch resembled a ploughed field at times.

On the playing side we have seen very little of new faces coming in.  The club have been making a big thing of the Tipton Town striker Gurjit Singh signing a contract with us but this was last seasons news and he was in fact on the bench for the Worcester Senior Cup final but didn't make an appearance.  The only new players to come in so far are both from Redditch Utd, who else!

Calvin Dinsley was the first and at the same time Jordan Jones was mentioned but there was no confirmed news of him until yesterday.  Midfielder Dinsley is said to be 'technically gifted' while Jones has had a 'hugely impressive season at Redditch Utd'.  Apart from that nothing much is known about either player.

Of the existing players that we have left with the club a few, Ahmed Obeng, Jamie Spencer, Jordan Tunnicliffe and Tyrone Williams, have agreed to sign new contracts while Josh O'Keefe has now left us.  It was never going to work with Josh hoping to make a go of it here following the abuse he received from sections of the ground in his time here, his poor injury record while out on loan and the fact that he wasn't prepared to see his contract with us terminated and would rather draw a wage but not play.  He has now joined up with Altrincham.

Also leaving the club this week, rather surprisingly, was Akwase Asante.  He has joined up with Sutton Coldfield Town after only coming to us just before Christmas from Birmingham City having been seen as 'one for the future'.  His departure can't be down to money reasons seeing as he probably wasn't on all that much in the first place.

There is a rumour going round of a new goalkeeper coming in now we don't seem to have any following the departures of Danny Lewis and Jas Singh.  The new recruit is believed to be from a local Premiership side and has been on the bench in recent weeks without being called upon to play.  The only one that seems to fit the bill is Jack Rose at West Brom and he's also out of contract from next week once the Premiership season comes to an end.

We have also announced some more pre-season friendlies.  Nothing much exciting I'm sorry to say.  Apart from the one at home to Birmingham City that was arranged a few weeks ago we have the usual visits to Romulus and Stratford to 'look forward' to with new ones such as Walsall Wood, wherever that is, and Gloucester City (at Evesham).  Sadly no sign of a friendly against the newly reformed Hereford FC that most fans thought would have been a nice touch on our part.

That's about it then for the time being.  Hopefully we'll have more positive news next time.
