Following an extended break due to other Conference sides playing in the FA Cup on Saturday and us being without any available opponents due to said Cup games (although Nuneaton declined the invitation to move the game with them from December) we now find ourselves playing our midweek game against Aldershot Town a date later than planned due to them playing Portsmouth on Sunday afternoon.  They turned in a credible result to draw at League One side Portsmouth and so take them to a replay next Wednesday.

Previous to the game they signed former defender Mark Phillips on loan from AFC Wimbledon but he only lasted a short while on Sunday before going off with a leg injury.  He will be assessed before the game tomorrow evening as will Josh Scott who missed the game with a foot injury.  They also have long term injuries to Damon Lathrope (groin) and Anthony Tonkin (calf) and they won't be playing at all.

We'll be without quite a few players for the game.  Josh Gowling (shoulder) and Kyle Storer (hernia) both remain absent long term while two players, Jas Singh and Josh O'Keefe, have been sent out on loan to Gloucester City and Chester FC respectively.

Rumour is that we are going to bring in a replacement keeper for Singh with the former Wrexham keeper Joslein Mayebi about to sign non contract terms following a three week stint training with the club.  It does seem to be a strange move to send out a bench warming keeper on loan and then bring in a bench warming keeper to replace him.  Freeing up a weekly wage for no wages at all, unless called on to play, seems to be the only reason.  If Mayebi is to be the number one keeper then that's tough on Danny Lewis considering that the last we saw of him was when he made an outstanding save in the dying minutes of the Torquay game a few weeks back and so save the skin of Gary Whild.

As for the possible result tomorrow night then I think that the Shots will have bigger, and better, fish to fry in the coming days and will be happy with a point.  In the same game last season, in front of the cameras, they thought the one point they gained in a bore draw was a victory in their eyes.  To us it was a poor result and could have done better.  We need to do better tomorrow if we want all three points this time round.
