Following that, yet another, terrible defeat against Eastleigh the other night came the rumours that Gary Whild was thinking about quitting the job.  Accusations of not trying were being aimed at the players but no one person was being singled although it was thought to be the more senior members of the squad.

It has to be admitted that there was definitely a lack of interest from most of the team in the second half, just as there had been at Alfreton a few days earlier.  Many fans seem to think this could be down to some players having already been told that they will be surplus to requirements come the end of April and so why should they bother playing for a club that no longer wants them and probably won't be able to pay them anyway.

What a shocking mess this proud club have got themselves into.

This is all 'behind closed doors' business anyway and all we want to see, as fans, is a team that plays with pride in shirt on their chests and to put in enough graft to actually win a game.  Or even score.

We'll get another chance to score tomorrow at home to Dover Athletic and this time we surely can't mess up against a team that haven't won in their last seven games.

Dovers last win came at home to Wrexham in mid January after a thirteen unbeaten game run  Since then they have dropped down the table from the edge of the play-offs down to fourteenth place while we have dropped from fifth to tenth in that time.  We're not too far behind them then.

Last Saturday they lost 2-1 at home to Lincoln City after being expected to beat the struggling City side.  Two goal keeping errors contributed to the defeat and Andy Rafferty is expected to be replaced by the veteran Lee Hook in goal.  They seem to have no injury problems now that a number of players have just made their return from injury and suspension.

We should be injury free too although Aman Verma was missing completely from the side on Tuesday for reasons unknown to us.  There has been no mention of any problem with him from official sources.

I'm going to be confident here and I'm going to go for a win.  Not by much but a win all the same.
