They lost out at new boys Eastleigh on Saturday when they gave away an own goal in the dying seconds of the game, scored by their centre half Dominic Collins. That defeat was to keep them in nineteenth place in the League.
During the game their star striker, and Wind Up Merchant, Richard Brodie picked up a badly cut and swollen ankle and could miss the game tomorrow evening. They have no other injury problems.
We should be at full strength for the game with no reports of any injuries following the home win against Gateshead on Saturday. Two early second half goals, the first this season from recognised strikers, saw us win the game even though Gateshead rallied later in the half and scored from a Jon Shaw header that should have been meat and drink to goalie Danny Lewis. The two scorers, Craig Reid and Nathan Blissett, will be wanting to build on that win at Southport and for Blissett that is a strong possibility with it being one of those grounds that he seems to enjoy playing at.
Not so much the fans though because Southport can be a bitter place on an early Autumn evening with the, seemingly, gale force winds blowing in off the Irish Sea.
I think that we'll be too strong a team for the hosts once more and the worst we can hope for is another draw. Hopefully we'll be picking up our second away win of this campaign.
