Gloucester City 1 Harriers 1

The Harriers came back from being a goal down in the second minute after a converted penalty from one of our former players, Billy Jones, gave Gloucester a second minute lead.  Lathaniel Rowe-Turner had pulled back Harry White after he had escaped his marker.  The goal came after City had already gone close to scoring a minute earlier through the former Worcester City strike Mike Symons but Dean Snedker saved it well.

It took twenty minutes for the Harriers to draw level through Reece Styche, his third goal in the friendlies so far, when he capitalised on Jaz Singh, formerly of Harriers, making a mistake in clearing a ball straight to him.  It was an easy ask to roll the ball into an empty net.

We were playing a much stronger side than last night when a mix of youth and triallists lost the Worcester Senior Cup semi final at Redditch.  Tonight we had just the one new face in a defender from Wolves: Ben O'Hanlon.  Apart from Snedker those that started last night were on the bench tonight.  Snedker, himself, went off injured after colliding with Connor Thompson and receiving a nasty cut.

After the break both sides cancelled each other out with the Harriers having a slight upperhand.  Jordan Harrison went someway to earning himself a new contract with a shot from Kelvin Langmeads knock down that got blocked by City bodies on the line while later in the game it was Singh versus Singh when Gurjit, on for Harrison, stung the hands of Jaz.

Craig Reid, on for Styche, also went close to scoring his first goal of the friendly season when his looping header forced Singh into a great save.  Also going close late on was Langmead with a chance from a corner and then Adam Dawson jinking through the City defence to send a shot across almost sealed it for the visitors.

City almost had the last say in the game though when, with the seconds ticking down, Harry White rose at the far post but his header went just over.

Harriers:
Snedker (Bunn), Hodgkiss, Langmead, Rowe-Turner, O'Hanlon (Green), Clarke (Tunnicliffe), Verma, Digie (Hales), Harrison (Singh), Styche (Reid), Dawson.

Subs: Bunn, Green, Singh, Sweeney, Reffell, Reid, Jones, Tunnicliffe, Hales.
