Dawson has now gone on loan to Tranmere. Well done to all concerned.
The Braintree game was the one that fans had got pencilled in as the one we should have won and the one that would have seen us begin to, hopefully, leave twenty fourth place behind but the flat, lifeless and uninspiring performance matched Whilds uninspiring and lifeless tactics that saw him start the game with a loan striker at home yet again and a recognised centre forward, Reece Styche, out wide trying to supply Gurjit Singh with balls that he had no hope of getting with two defenders on him throughout. The other winger, Dawson, was getting no support from his team mates and had to resort, yet again, to doing it all himself.
The captain Jared Hodgkiss told the press this week that the team have got to start playing for each other. That starts with you the Jared because your support of your wingman was non-existent on Saturday.
Tomorrow we travel up to twenty third placed Halifax in an early season six pointer relegation battle. They too have found themselves in an un-expected position and their fans are, like us, calling for heads to roll.
They have got one win under their belt though when they beat Barrow at home 3-1 on Bank Holiday Monday after trailing until the eightieth minute and then scoring three times in the final ten minutes. We were also on a comeback at Tranmere at exactly the same time but theirs was of more benefit it seems because we are yet to win.
It is in defence that Halifax are having problems with them conceding seventeen goals so far this season. In response to that the manager, Neil Aspin, has today bought in defender Julian Branton on loan from Sheffield Utd and the nineteen year old is expected to start tomorrow. With them facing a team that cannot score goals this game could well end up as a scoreless draw then.
Halifax will definitely be without former Harrier Richard Peniket who has been out with a cruciate injury since last March. He is expected back around Christmas time. They have just the one doubt with Matty Brown missing last Saturdays defeat at Aldershot but he could return tomorrow. They have also been having an early clearout with the former Worcester City defender Graham Hutchison joining struggling Telford while midfielder Elliott Whitehouse has left to join Nuneaton for an undisclosed fee.
We'll be without Luke Maxwell for three games following his sending off last Saturday for a bad foul while Kelvin Langmead will definitely be missing after suffering a set back in his return from injury. That last bit may not be true but who knows with the tales being spun surrounding his injury. Calvin Dinsley (left) is expected to replace Maxwell and what we have seen of Dinsley so far I worry about what could happen.
There we go then. You have the team news for both sides and my thoughts on the goings on at Aggborough too. I'll shut up now.
