After weeks of rumours and false trails the Harriers have finally announced the signing of Joe Ironside from fellow Conference North side Nuneaton on a season and a bit contract. Talk of him going to AFC Fylde were unfounded after he turned them down while Forest Green Rovers were also, supposedly, interested but that appears to have been paper talk.
The twenty three year old started with Sheffield Utd as a youth but never met his potential with them and was released to join Alfreton Town who he had previously been on loan with. After failing to gain a regular starting spot there he joined up with Nuneaton a year later and became a hit there with his goals. It's those goals - eighteen this season alone - that has bought him to Aggborough for an undisclosed fee that we hope will be quickly re-paid if we get promotion back to the top level of non league football at the first time of asking.
Ironside will go straight into the squad that faces Tamworth this evening.
