Solihull Moors 3 Harriers 3

The Harriers forced a draw with the team that replaced them in the Conference Premier last season when they came away from Solihull Moors in this penultimate friendly of the pre-season.  With a host of former Harriers now playing with Solihull it was always going to be interesting to see if they were better than what we have now.

Sadly for us it looked as if they would be when Solihull raced into a 2-0 lead with goals from Harry White and Stefan Moore, both former players of ours.  White netting from a poorly defended free kick and then a corner hit the post and was bundled home by Moore when Sam Hornby parried it to him.

We had already seen a shot from Jared Hodgkiss go wide earlier and the two goals from Solihull had knocked us back a bit but it wasn't long before we got back in the game.

Mid way through the half and James McQuilkin reduced the deficit with a beautifully taken free kick past former Red Danny Lewis and then Elton N'Gwatala buried a header beyond Lewis to draw us level.  In between the two goals Arthur Gnahoua had gone close with a firm strike that forced Lewis to react and save.

We had more chances to score through Gnahoua and Mani Dieseruvwe just before the break and it looked like that was the way the score would stay until up popped Gnahoua bearing down on goal and no one was going to stop him.  They didn't because his strike nestled into the net to give us the lead at 3-2.

After the break we sat back a little even though we were still fully in charge.  Waite, Dieseruvwe, N'Gwatala and Zaine Francis-Angol all went close to increasing the lead but the host finally managed to pull that third goal back with one of their own as a trialist for them put the ball in the net from close range.

In the final few minutes we could have snatched the victory when Dieseruvwe sent a powerful header goalwards but Lewis was equal to it and saved well.

Subs: J Brown, Thomas, Williams, Trialist, Trialist, Trialist, Trialist, A Brown, Austin.
