Why is it going to, hopefully, be easier? Because Alfreton have just sold their leading scorer, and thorn in our side, Dan Bradley to AFC Fylde for an un-disclosed fee. Bradley was with the Harriers from January to July 2102 when he left us after scoring three goals in eighteen appearances for Alfreton for a nominal fee of £2,500. He actually left them at one stage to join newly promoted Barnet but returned to Alfreton at the start of the season due to being homesick. His total playing record for them reads thirty four goals in one hundred and seventy four appearances with three of those goals coming against us.
We shouldn't have to worry about any former player though because the team we have now are good enough to beat an Alfreton side sitting below mid-table and a defence leaking like a sieve. Thirty one goals have gone into their net this season but they can score goals themselves with twenty six in their favour. Our defence is pretty solid though so should be able to cope with their weakened attack force.
There is also another former Harrier with them. Evan Garnett joined them at the end of last season but he seems to have been just as successful with them as he was with us. In eight games he has yet to find the net so he's been shipped out to Buxton on loan.
Injuries? We'll never know because no one updates their website, the local newspaper don't care about them and the fans forum has closed down. It's a wonder the locals realise they have a football club in their town.
We should now have an injury free side with Jared Hodgkiss fit again and James McQuilkin (left) recovered from the hamstring twinge that forced him to sit out last weeks 4-0 FA Cup win at home to Tamworth. Kennedy Digie has gone out on loan to Halesowen but didn't figure in the first team plans anyway.
I think it's going to be a good day at Alfreton and we're going to come back with all three points and with a bit of luck we could be at the top of the table.
