Ashley Carter The Harriers will face a more familiar opponent tomorrow, Bank Holiday Monday, when Altrincham come calling for their share of the spoils.  As we all know they were one of the clubs that got relegated with us to this dark place along with Halifax and Welling but at least they have more knowledge of how to survive down here than we do having been a yo-yo club for many years.

They haven't settled so well as us though and find themselves struggling near the foot of the league with only three points from a possible eighteen.  All three points were from drawn games.

That poor start to the season has, today, seen manager Neil Young resign his position on the eve of our game tomorrow.  A trio of senior players will now be taking charge until a new fall guy can be appointed.  Steve Burr anyone?

On Saturday, while we were doing our best to throw away three points at Boston, Altrincham were losing 4-2 at home to neighbours Curzon Ashton after going into an early lead through an Emile Sinclair first minute goal.  Sinclair had signed for Alty in the week preceding the game along with Joe Moran on loan from Forest Green and Fabio Bassangue.  The latter was born in Guinea-Bissau, a Portugese colony in West Africa.

In fact already this season they have had a massive turnover of players with between twenty five to twenty seven on their books.  One of them, Jamie Menagh, was only there for a short while before moving on again having played just one game.  Three of those can be discounted though with Shaun Densmore, Tom Hannigan and Craig Hobson all out injured.

We'll have Jared Hodgkiss most probably still missing with his ankle injury while there could be a fresh face in the sick room after Elton N'Gwatala was withdrawn at Boston with a slight limp.  It will also be part two of Ashley Carters (right) three match suspension.

At Boston an early own goal set us on our way but despite bombarding the Boston goal with shots and a glut of fruitless corners we couldn't score a goal of our own.  There had already been storm clouds brewing over the North Sea before the game but by half time they began to take hold with thunder, lightening and pouring rain coming from above.

We were praying that the referee wouldn't put an end to the proceedings with us so dominantly in the lead but then, just a little more than five minutes from the end, we wished he had ignored us and abided by the rules not to play in a lightening storm.  Boston went and scored against all the odds and the run of play to give themselves a share of the spoils and us left feeling as if we had been defeated.

Please let's not sit back on yet another lead.  We have to go out with the intention of scoring and then we have to build on that and throttle Altrincham until their ears pop.
