The Harriers take a rest from league action this weekend when we enter the FA Trophy at the 3rd qualifying round at home to Lincoln Utd.  We've met this iteration of Lincoln before in the 2nd round of the Trophy back in 1998 when we could only draw at home to them and then lost the replay at Ashby Avenue to go crashing out.  This time we have to hope that there will be no repeat of that.

Lincoln play two levels below us in the Evostik First Division South where they sit in sixteenth place but they have seven games in hand over many teams in that same division.  That is down to the fact that they have played only twelve league games but have played fourteen games in various cups.  So it seems they're concentrating on boardroom silverware whereas we should be concentrating on getting promotion back to civilisation but cannot afford to embarrassingly lose again at our first stage of a trophy.  So to that end we'll be putting out a strong team capable of avoiding an upset.

I expect to see some players rested but not wholesale changes to the line-up.  We could see Sam Austin and Liam Truslove starting the game with the rested players on the bench.  We might see another Academy youngster sat there too to give them the experience of maybe coming on for the final ten minutes of the game alongside the big boys.

We have no injuries, apart from Jared Hodgkiss, so look ok on that front.  Lincoln could be without Luke Hornsey who has been out injured recently but could be fit to play by the weekend.

They have no famous names seeing out their long careers to look out for and most of the team have been recruited locally from Lincoln City and other outlying towns teams.

The referee for the game is Matthew Donohue.  He officiated our 6-0 win in the FA Cup at home to Tamworth so the omens are good in that respect.

I expect, and hope, that we will progress further in the Trophy at Lincolns expense but as we know from eighteen years ago that isn't always the case and an upset is always on the cards.  We'll find out at five o'clock tomorrow evening.
