After being trailed by the Harriers for over a year the Walsall striker Gary Birch finally agreed to sign for the club in the Stuart Watkiss revolution of December 2004.

The big forward was never a great goalscorer at any of the clubs that he's been with but is hoping to improve on that at Aggborough.

He failed to deceive though and left the club at the end of the season and joined Lincoln City in June.
