John originally came to Aggborough on a one month deal in October 2000 following a short time at Tranmere Rovers where he had gone after leaving Carlisle Utd.

After a successful goalscoring start at Aggborough, John was rewarded with an extended contract until the end of the season.

At the end of the the 2000/01 season John was released by the Harriers and joined Welsh League team, Rhyl.

He then left Rhyl to join up with an old friend Brian Horton, at Port Vale in December 2001.

John has nearly 400 league appearances to his name.

The striker began his career at;
Liverpool then
West Bromwich Albion.
Oxford.
Portsmouth.
Blackpool.
Carlisle.
