When Trevor Francis arrived at St. Andrews Richard moved on to Stoke City for £200,000.
Two years later he moved to Blackpool on a free transfer but struggled to hold down a first team place.
He signed for Peterborough Utd on a free transfer in July 2000 and then in November 2002 left to join his old manager, Graham Allner at Cheltenham for a fee of £15K rising to 25K on appearances.
During his career at Aggborough he made 295+(8) appearances and scored 71 goals.
