During his time at Aggborough he never really gained a regular place in the side and his game would often blow hot and cold.
He was released at the end of the 03/04 season and joined Forest Green Rovers soon after but stayed there for only one season before joining Hinckley Utd.
Sadly Matt was to lose his life on September 9th 2006 while playing in a game at Harrogate Town.
He un-knowingly suffered from a heart condition known as Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy. An inherited condition that affects the muscle of the right ventricle of the heart.
He died a few hours later in Harrogate Hospital and left a wife and young daughter. He was just twenty seven years old.
