He then signed for Premiership side Coventry for £25000 in the summer of 1992 where he earned the tag of 'The Flying Postman' when he was thought to be the fastest player in the Football League.
After leaving City in 1995 his career took in a multitude of clubs (listed below).
He signed for the Harriers after impressing during a trial run before the start of the 2003-04 season and was initially taken on a 3 month contract.
At the end of that short contract he was employed on a week to week basis and it was during this time that he was to go down in Aggborough folklore when he scored against local Premiership rivals Wolves in the FA Cup 3rd round in January 2004.
He also became the first Harriers player ever to win the PFA Player of the Month award.
Sadly Johns age was against him and he finally left the club at the end of the 03/04 season but he left as a hero.
