Martin arrived at Aggborough in the twilight of his career in July 2005. After signing for Bromsgrove Rovers at the age of 24 he was then signed by Crystal Palace for £25,000 followed by moves to Walsall, Peterboro and Birmingham City for increasing sums of money.
He joined Shrewsbury in the Conference in 2003 and helped them regain their place in the Football League but was released by them at the age of 37 in 2005.
He came to Aggborough in a playing/coaching role and when Stuart Watkiss was dismissed in November 05 he took over as caretaker manager until the arrival of new manager Mark Yates at the start of the New Year.
A few weeks later he left the club.
