He rarely got a chance for us until a FA Cup game at Kings Lynn when the regular centre half, Luke Jones, got sent off and Mark Yates sent on Riley in his place. After that he became one of the first names on the team sheet with his steady performances at the heart of a defence that only just missed out on the play-offs that year.
When Mark Yates left and Steve Burr joined as manager Riley seemed to lose interest in playing for us and gave the impression that he would rather be elsewhere. That came in July 2010 when he teamed up once more with Yates at Cheltenham.
His injury hit time at Whaddon Rd lasted just the one season and he was released but soon after joined up with Mansfield Town.
