Martin Weir
Martin Weir

Martin Weir was signed by Graham Allner after being released by Birmingham City in July 1986, making his debut against Barnet in August of that year at the age of 18.

It wasn't long before he became one of the first names on the teamsheet but his career took a serious blow in 1994, the year of our first Championship.  He became a victim of the dreaded Cruciate Knee Ligament injury and was out of the game for over a year.

His partnership with Chris Brindley in the middle of the park was solid and helped the Harriers in their rise from middling non-league side to their place in the Football League.

Sadly 'Weirdo' was never to play in the League after leaving the Harriers for Worcester City shortly after his testimonial game against Aston Villa in August 1999.  He retired from the game in March 2002 after recurring knee problems stopped him from playing.
