Another point with White I think we should keep him but also if I'm correct if we offer him a contract and he chooses to go elsewhere are we not entitled to compensation? So it makes no sense just getting rid of him and losing him for nothing

I hadn't realised that so many players were travelling such long distances each day. I recently listened to Steve Bruce saying that he wants his players to live near to West Brom as it doesn't make sense for players to spend two hours each way, every day as it makes them jaded and sitting for so long is no good for the body. And if they don't like it they can clear off. So why do we employ players who live so far away ?

The club has a house to act as accommodation for those living further afield should they wish to use it at times so they don’t have to travel to and from all the time.

It’s enabled us to widen the area from which we recruit.

It's probably a bit easier for a player on Championship / Premier League wages to relocate or at least get a second property close to training. I think at our level we have accept compromises. That said, with the cost of fuel, I can see it being more problematic ongoing and NL players may simply find it uneconomical to travel the way a few of ours have.

That's interesting and must be a big help to both parties.

Haven't we had fans putting up players in the past too?
The best team we ever had- since i've been watching the Harriers (2002-)

You would think living next to a conurbation of 2.5 million people & clubs at various levels, there would be some decent players for us to beg steal or borrow.

Yep, the club used to also own a house in Leswell street back in the Allner days.
These days its the old Pump Superintendent's house in Green Street, opposite Asda; its used by Youth players and the single lads.
Bo Hedriksen used to rent the flat above the hairdressers in Greatfield Road. :)

Waggy used to put some up and Wayne Hatswell had some flats on the College estate that were rented out to players.

Alex Penny has apparently been the main occupier in recent times. Players call him "The Caretaker" with him keeping it in such spotless condition.

Simpson said in the podcast he kindly agreed to with Wes, that he was not wanted which suggests to me that we are going with Palmer to free up a bit more of the budget.
