Budget Booster

Post by HarriersFan94 » Mon May 09, 2022 8:17 am

Just an idea whilst on the train to work, thinking about how a few clubs over the years have used "Crowd Funder" or similar to help boost the transfer or playing budget for the following season. Be nice to invest in a non league gem like Anthony Malbon or Joe Lolley again.
Would it be possible to set up??

Was done for 2020/21 season and raised £9k. Not really a significant amount to sign a decent player. Crowds and interest have grown since then but can't see it raising anything higher than that, possibly not even near it. I wouldn't donate as much as I did last time purely because it wasn't that long ago and the club never really communicated where that money went unless I missed it?

The club still doesn't seem in a place where it could manage something like this. It can barely communicate basic news to the fans. KHIST tried to organise the last one but the club wasn't interested if I remember rightly.

If done properly it could probably bring in some credible amount, I think Chester FC raised something like £100k through donations and "pledges" where people pledged to donate £x each month to the club though this was during COVID.

It's a nice idea but as above, was not managed well last time (I 'bought' a mascot package for my sons at around £200, never heard a peep from the club about it)

It seems like the perfect project for KHIST to spearhead, but as above, club don't seem interested in engaging with them.

I too am owed a mascot package following a crowdfunder donation. Its a shame mascots couldn't return this season following relaxation of the rules. It would be unwise for the club to ask fans for money when matters like this are unresolved.

In my memory, the most successful money raising campaigns have been done by KHIST.

That really is awful! Perhaps now the COVID restrictions are lifted they will get mascots (and crucially, ballboys/girls) back again. I would have expected a holding email from them at least.

What a shame that, at a time when there has never been a better connection between the players and the fans, the connection between the club and the fans is so poor.

What's worse with the previous ones is the club didn't follow through on the rewards. Piss poor.

Cor blimey that is really poor that the packages were never honoured, especially as things like a mascot package would have minimal cost to the club.

If it had been done properly it could have been done annually.

Link to what's on offer. Great idea butbis there a minimum number of months to pledge for? I'd like to see us do something like this
