Harriers boss Russ Penn has boosted his squad with a new face – Cheltenham Town midfielder Elliot Bonds arriving on loan.

Former Hull City man Elliot joined the Robins back in the summer after a successful loan period there was cut short by injury last season.

Highly thought of at Cheltenham, he’s now in search of first-team football as he steps up his recovery, having already played three Cup matches there this term.

The 21-year-old has also featured for Dagenham and Farnborough, and has been capped by the Guyana national team.

He joins on loan initially until December 4th and goes into Saturday’s squad for the home match with Bradford (Park Avenue).

“Elliot has been training with us for a short while and is already a good fit,” said Penn.

“he’s going to bring competition to the squad at an important time. He wants to come here, make a difference and help us get results, so it’s a win-win.”

Elliot’s first interview is available to watch on our YouTube channel and to read in this weekend’s match day programme.

Given Montrose is still injured I imagine he'll come in to provide competition given we've only two fit central midfielders. Not rocket science and a decent move by Penn.

Seems like a sensible signing if his injury is behind him. With Montrose injured, Carrington and Martin can't play every game with a busy period coming up

Great news, we need some (fit) bodies competing for a midfield berth. As above, Carrington has been great but is no spring chicken and we have a lot of games on the horizon. Hopefully Moyo's recovery is going well and he can rejoin the fray early in the new year also.

There's some highlights on YouTube. This looks to be a good acquisition, the guy has good passing range.

It gives more options up front as well, as AMS, Freemantle, Bell are too similar in style. So perhaps Hemming, Sterling or Austin be pushed further up to play off a No 9, with Bonds midfield. Not saying that is an answer, just another option.

Interesting to see how he fits in, getting balls quickly forward to our fast players could be useful.

Not so good for Lissamore though.
