Next seasons manager

Post by PIRATE OF ZARAGOZA » Sat Apr 13, 2024 12:04 pm

So who is it going to be?
I'm hoping Phil Brown stays. So far the rumours are.....

Phil Brown, ( Mate of Dean Holdsworth) from comments made at his night in the Aggborough suite.

Gavin Hurran (Mate of Dean Holdsworth) from Garthrockett

Rooney, not that one (Mate of Dean Holdsworth) that came from my mate.

Any more???

Dean Holdsworth himself?! (who is obviously known to Dean Holdsworth 😉)

I would have suggested David Holdsworth (Dean's brother, who was a very decent centre back in his day), but he last managed at Goole 10 years ago....

I'd rather someone who's got some experience at NLN or similar level and build his own team.

I'm not sure Brown is the right man for the job as I can't see us coming back up for a couple of years at least as we need a virtually new squad.

Not Brown.

Clean sweep for me. Hopefully there’s a plan.

I'd like a whole new setup I think, with a manager in place as early as possible.

Retain Lambert, Byrne, Richards and McNally to play first team, and Zak Brown as a youngster to develop.

Beyond that I'd be happy to completely rebuild the squad, with thank-yous to AMS and Hemmings.

Really don’t know why it would be Hurren.

Keeping Brown, getting McDonald, or even Michael Gash would be better choices.

Watching Phil browns interview after match seems to indicate he wants to stay I'm hoping he stays and gets us promoted

I haven't said it will be Hurren; I'm just looking as pragmatically as possible at the wider context, which given the people now associated with the club would suggest such a appointment or similar.

Don't forget the club model will be radically different next season;
A coaching team (Brown or otherwise) directing match tactics, with Holdsworth as Director of Football presumably in charge of player recruiting, and the new scout picking up a few cheap gems from lower down the pyramid.
I cant see many of the current squad being offered new contracts beyond the few already contracted for next season.
Irrespective of playing budgets or extra investment I would consider anything less than a play off place next season as failure.
Close season will be interesting.

THIS. He kept what he describes as a "village team" up in NLN. This would be a very savvy appointment.

Agree with this. Except I think Byrne is a big risk with his injury issues & I'd keep Penny.

I really like Phil Brown and I'll be happy enough if he stays, but some of the recent home performances have been worrying and I'd back Liam MacDonald to have a clearer idea of what we need to get back out of NLN.

What concerns me if we keep PB would be the negative impact on squad budget. Players win games.

Paul Caddis at Hereford has done a decent job, can’t really think of anyone else.
