These, and many more Captain classics, along with the taste of the Aggborough soup and the smell of cigarette smoke on a misty winter’s afternoon in the mid-1980s, are my “jumpers for goalposts”. Marvellous.

Very nice man. Funny too. I have similar early memories to you Tom. He always managed to add a bit of colour to a drab November afternoon. Don't think we'll see his like again - or hear the Dam-busters' March which he played a few times. Not sure why. It was all part of the glorious uncertainty.
