Very honest interview from AM I thought. We definitely need some re inforcements but at this time of the season where they gonna come from is anyone's guess. Also they recalled PK but they didn't even play last night. Surely we cud have kept him

He was recalled George. I heard he didn’t wanna go back and rather stay here but bottom line is he’s their player not ours so it’s out of his and our handsGeorge1968 wrote: Wed Mar 04, 2026 8:44 amVery honest interview from AM I thought. Agree about very honest interview from AM.
My frustration was not with Alfreton - they were organised, physical and niggly, they closed us down in midfield, made Dibs look a bit silly on goal kicks, came for a point and nearly got it.
As AM said, we were boring for long periods. We failed to do the basics - far too many loose passes. I also began to doubt whether the players understood the game plan That said, the goal was coming in the final 15 minutes - probably a combination of Alfreton tiring and us changing style. I think AM probably got the timing of AMS's introduction about right - we know that we cannot expect 90 minutes from him every match. An alternative would have been to start with TSS - but on second thoughts .....
I thought Faakye had a solid debut - without being tested by an opposition who lacked any serious attacking intent. He doesn't have PK's physicality but is possibly a better footballer. Also, having criticised Seb in the past, I thought he was one of our better players last night and was unlucky to be subbed.

I've seen some poor decisions over the 30 years I've been supporting the club but seeing Seb go off for TSS was one of the worst I have seen.
As for talk from Murray and also some on the fans podcast about the league 'being stronger' this season, what a load of bullshit.
The league is so bad that we are fourth, We dont score many goals and we are miles away from last season. Yet somehow in the hunt for 3rd place!

It does feel that way, although there’s a definite pattern of playing better against sides higher up in the league (aside from the debacles against Radcliffe and Macclesfield). Must avoid playing on plastic if at all possible.Joe Stalin wrote: Tue Mar 03, 2026 11:11 pm All I would say is we were indeed blessed to witness both TSS and Gerry on the same pitch at the same time. All it needed was Gary Hay and Manny Panther to appear and it would have made my night.
Oh well, three points and we move onwards towards what feels like an absolutely obvious end of season denouement.
The bigger question is if we do somehow pull it off, do we want to see more of the same next season in the NL? Would AM become more or less risk averse? I think I know the answer unfortunately.
Mind you, if memory serves we were all very disconsolate this time last season, and then we signed Morrison and Worrall.

Another observation - still no sign of sprinklers in action last night?

...and struggling NL and EFL2 clubs may then run an envious eye over what seems a successful coach -with two promotions under his belt- and possibly pay us huge compensation for poaching our popular and charismatic Manager. The bigger question is if we do somehow pull it off, do we want to see more of the same next season in the NL? Do we? Okay, then start him and play him for 70 minutes. I don't think he's particularly unfit, especially for his age!Grumpy old man wrote: Wed Mar 04, 2026 9:44 am I think AM probably got the timing of AMS's introduction about right - we know that we cannot expect 90 minutes from him every match. I don't get the TSS hate. Not saying start him, but he's a professional footballer, he's scored goals for us this season (yes, with an awful miss on top). To have him as an option is fine...taking Seb off for him is another matter (although from what I've seen, I'm not convinced yet).
On the sprinklers, they're broken according to H&W.
Sadly can't see us signing a Worrall and Morrison type duo - but I hope to be proven wrong!

My word that was a hard watch last night - frankly a draw would have been a fair result yet we score late on and AM hurtles down the touch line pumping his arms in the air as though he had just won the lottery. That was pretty much the only excitement of the evening from just one person. It is getting to the point where the 90 minutes just does not pass quickly enough and I can at least get back to a warm house. This has gone on for the majority of the season and I see no change no matter how many new players are brought in they will soon be indoctrinated into dull football.

Watching the highlights back - I must say that ball from Davis about a minute into the package for Devine is brilliant. Lacking pace, and probably to the wrong player (where is our number '9' there? That's exactly where they should be!) but a rare case of us attempting to break the line.
Some nice looking balls by Thompson - but he needs to be sparing with the long shots by 30 yards. Unlucky for Reynolds' shot to hit AMS.
As much as people knock TSS (as above, I think unfairly given the intensity of it), a great ball forward to Reynolds to set up our winner. What a lucky deflection for it to fall for Devine!
