It seems that I'm out of date with my assessment. I hadn't realised that the rules now allow goals to be scored directly from the kick off. In my day the ball wasn't in play until it was played by someone other than the player kicking off.

As an aside, when I was refereeing I once gave two goals 11 seconds apart. I never did claim this as a world record but it would be interesting to see if it is/was one.
