Salford wobbling

Post by ograzebrook » Sat Feb 10, 2018 9:53 pm

Just thought I'd bring this to everyone's attention after Salford lost again today. The gap is getting potentially smaller now. Our home games against Harrogate and Salford have now got a bit more to them. Nice and interesting.

With finishing in the top three significant regarding the play-offs I'd also add third placed Brackley to this, only two wins in eight league games now, though they have had a great Trophy run.

Salford have traditionally suffered a poor run of form in the final third of the season. On the other hand, we’re still unbeaten in the league since 12th September. If we can keep that run together and win our games against those around us, I firmly believe that we could be in with a shout of overtaking the mighty Salford. The run won’t last forever and It may be a tough ask, but we’ve managed to retain the squad and made quality additions I.e. George Waring especially who in my opinion is welll deserving of a place in the starting line-up on Saturday against Harrogate instead of Brown. With Lee Vaughan’s quality crosses a Waring/Ironside partnership would pose a massive threat. Andre Wright’s departure IMHO is no great loss.

I've been studying the odds on this and they just don't look right to me.

Salford are currently still 1/4 to win the title - personally I don't see them doing it now at now after losing today again.
Brackley are 25/1 despite only 2 wins in 8 league games.
Spennymoor are 33/1 but we're...

80/1 - (down from 90/1 yesterday). Surely there's something out of whack there?

I like these odds and have just stuck £10 on us to win the league. I got a free £10 bet for doing that, which I repeated the bet on - so if we win the league I get £1600 back.

For me Harrogate are the main problem. We need to start by beating them next Saturday, but if we do we're 7 behind them, with a game in hand, and 13 games left. And in that scenario things start looking very interesting...

Same here on betfair.

I should also point out that i have bet on us for the title only twice before.

In 93-94 at 25-1

And in 99-2000 at 33-1.

Long shot but for those odds a tenner has to be worth it.

It's nice to see that some are taking note, and having a go.

See also comments on "play offs" thread.

I still maintain we will finish 2nd at worst. Whether we do or we don't, it's worth it for the interest. Long way to go. We need to win next 3 to build real momentum.

Bet365 also offering 100/1 Harriers for the title.

Just put a small bet on as I don't want to be left out of the celebrations - but mainly because I would love us to beat Salford

" Just Love it"

EDIT # I should have added I have every faith JE to get us over the line - my money is down.

All our remaining home games are tough which is probably reflected in the odds. Whilst I back us to do well in most of them I would expect to win the league we would need to win 12 of our remaining 14 games which is a tough ask.

4 of the top 5 to play at home the run in will be exciting, we are still a long way off the top but we haven't lost a league game for 5 months keep going and see what happens

I see both Betfair and Paddy Power have shortened Harriers odds to win the league to 33/1 from 100/1 on Sunday.

Same ownership, same odds.

Still 100/1 Bet365

I have been "saucy" and done 7 teams in World Cup. Just in 50p ew doubles to give me a nice interest if we do win it. Because it's "win only", IF we do it, that would mean £50 each way running up on those 7 teams.

Done enough on us for ew and promotion already, so thought I would do that too. Low risk stakes for potential big returns.

If we don't win the league, fair enough, only small stakes.
Like I said, it's a bit saucy......

Win Saturday and the fun begins. We really do have to take it match by match. Good Luck everyone.
