Our defensive performances this season were embarrassing at times and extremely unorganised. We lack height at the back and we haven't got anyone who can actually go and win the ball. No one takes responsibility to win the ball off corners and free kicks, hence why we concede so many in the last 10-15 minutes of games. We certainly aren't going to get promoted with our current back four. I can't say I'm a massive fan of O'Connor at centre half as he's not tall enough and doesn't win the ball. New centre half to partner Horsfall needed.

Not sure on resigning Mcquilkin! I get the feeling it's going to be same old same old in midfield with Croasdale, Weeks and Mcquilkin. I think we could do with some height in there and a fresh face.

Are we going to keep the formation from last two seasons? If Eustace stays, then I assume so. Dan Bradley has to play more centrally! I would love to just have two pacey wingers and someone up top with Ironside.
Straight forward/simple analysis of where Harriers issues lie from last season - but nevertheless totally accurate, and I see someone else is coining the phrase 'same old' and I do wonder IF Eustace is still at the helm come the first game of the new season whether the same tactics/formation will be employed? It wasn't good enough last season against the top six clubs in NN (mostly).
Which is why I do have strong reservations that if nothing changes - then nothing changes and Harriers will still be in NN at the end of the season, playing the 'Right Way' but still losing to Chorley ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

So at the moment by my reckoning we have 11 players contracted (inc Palmer) from last seasons squad and three new faces making a total of 14. Digie still to commit but maybe on his way to Nuneaton??

So those that thought we would be starting the new season with most if not all of the squad assembled by Eustace will be a little disappointed.

I happen to think it might be a blessing in disguise and hopefully the 'others' in the frame to join will be as good as those we lost & not just a bunch of Wannabees selected from trialists

Was inevitable we would lose Croasdale so glad it`s done & dusted now, not mid season. Would be good to get a big central midfielder in (thought Carter would fit that bill - but not to be).
Elton, (apparently given no 10 shirt up north) skilful as he is, not sure he fitted in with our passing game. Sinoupe, good potential when used properly, but inconsistent.
Hope Digie stay`s, good potential & defensive/midfield cover.
If we don`t lose any more, happy with the situation in terms of a nucleus.

Interesting to see Chester have turned an offer from a rival full time National North side for Jordon Archer, was it from us?

We are 4 weeks from the start of the season proper and have I think around 14 players and so need I would suggest another say half a dozen ish to stand any chance of challenging from the word go.

Are we leaving it all too late again as we did last year?

I presume Pearson hasn't signed and probably won't sign.

I'd like to think we have a number of "trialists" training with us who might provide the bulk of the missing bodies.
It is only a matter of time before those good people at the National Lottery give me the jackpot that I so richly deserve.

The ex Stourbridge player of the latter two items quoted is the one.

He was quickly picked up by Chester after some excellent performances for Stourbridge. Good player with more skill, just as much pace, and better defensive qualities the Sonupe.

Ready to pick up my season ticket and turn my attention back to the Harriers with the friendly against BC this weekend.

Can anyone point me to a simple list of close season ins and outs for the team - i.e. OUT - Croasdale (Fylde) etc. Does such a thing exist? I know we've had major surgery in the gut area.
