I think that comparison is a bit far fetched given Malbon wasn’t the same player the season the season Lolley came in, same with gash, both overweight

OK the season before when Malbon was fit, we scored 16 goals in the first 15 gamestonythescout wrote: ↑Wed Jul 28, 2021 8:26 pmI think that comparison is a bit far fetched given Malbon wasn’t the same player the season the season Lolley came in, same with gash, both overweight

Re: 2021/22 Friendlies
Centre half yesterday looked fairly assured.
Montrose and Lowe made errors for the goals and Penney gave away the pen.
Whatever formation we choose to play then Hemmings, Sterling, Bell, White, AMS, Fremantle, Austin need to deliver. For me, the only one of those with credit in the bank is Sam. The rest don't. They need to step up if we are to be successful.
Interested in Martin playing centre mid.
Not convinced with what I've seen.

It's a bit of a conundrum how you set up the players we have in the most effective formation, but I'd be inclined to do what a previous poster suggested and shore up the defence a little bit by putting Carrington at right back (where he played for Wrexham). With a stronger defence you could play a more aggressive formation in front of it. I think a loan midfielder of quality is key, then you'd have something like:
Carrington / Lowe / Loan CB / Richards
Austin / Montrose / Loan Midfielder
AMS or Freemantle / Bell / Hemmings or OSJ

Penny played as a CB against Cheltenham. Quite effective too but not sure if he could excel in that rolé.

Re: 2021/22 Friendlies
Halesowen away on Saturday is £5 adults and £3 for 60+ and Under 18's.
I would expect us to name as strong a side as possible for this with the season drawing ever closer and a win giving the lads some much needed confidence.

If previous visits to Halesowen are anything to go by I seriously doubt whether he’ll field anywhere close to his strongest side. I fully expect, yet again, a mixture of kids, triallists and first team players - probably up to 18 being used. Another win for the Yeltz. He’ll undoubtedly field his strongest side against the Man United youngsters.
I’m going to the Halesowen game but giving the Youngsters game a miss.

United’s friendly at Preston on Saturday is off after a number of COVID cases confirmed at Old Trafford.

I see that their under 23s team which we will hopefully play won 5-1 at Stalybridge Celtic on Tuesday night.
