We have to focus on a 3 back. If Kandola is injured play Richards at LCB. The second half when Devine came on we seemed so much more balanced. Reynolds was a rolls Royce, non stop all night, a brilliant player as was Richards.
I honestly thought Morgs had underhit his pass to Hemmo but it was weighted beautifully. Brilliant team goal.
And from home we couldn't see what Maz did but it sounded like he got away with one.

Maz doesn’t seem the type tbf, hard to know without seeing it.Harrier1994 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 10:08 pm We have to focus on a 3 back. If Kandola is injured play Richards at LCB. It was a superb pass from Morgs, just a brilliant goal.
It was the Scarborough players that lost their heads in the second half for sure.
I didn’t really get the ‘dark arts’ jibe but it’s about time we got savvy and stopped getting bullied. That midfield had muscle and bite tonight. Just the kind of game we’d have drawn or even lost in previous years.
Yes the commentary was unsurprisingly biased but the video quality and camera work were far superior than I’ve seen before.
Great bring top innit?

There was no dark arts but yes we rightly ran the clock down.
It didn't look like Maz did much other than push away the bloke who was kicking him, who then fell over theatrically. There was only one team looking for agro and it wasn't us but we stood up to them (as we've failed to in the past.)
I actually thought Richards looked a bit below par energy-wise tonight, but he still did well enough. McNally was struggling a bit with his personal battle, not helped by the ref, but Downing won his aerial duels.

Horrible watch in the first half, better in the second. That could be a big three points at the end of the season and important that we won after the Rushall result and with Brackley and Chester winning. Let's hope we do the business in the next two home games.
Great respect to all those who made the trip, not the easiest place to get to at the best of times.

That’s some win.
All front three players scored which is a bonus given most people’s preferred choice of a next signing.
First half from what I saw was as someone has said already, like basketball. Bit poor defensively, think Dibble was at fault for the free kick. Need to stick to a back three. It’s a mix of That and players performances in that formation that has seen us keep so many clean sheets, as the saying goes if it ain’t broke don’t fix it
A little concerning in PB post match where he said the team he named was the team that would have started at marine in Saturday. Said it would have been harsh to change it. I’m sorry, no it wouldn’t have been and Scarborough are clearly a different kettle of fish to Marine. Lesson learned I think as PB then eventually went to a back three and bought Devine on to make us more assured snd steady in the second half.
Dark arts are needed to get out of this league or as the professionals call it, game management. We’ve seen a very technically proficient side here before which didn’t or couldn’t do that and it failed in a bit for Promotion. Us two seasons ago and others who have gone up from this leagueseem to have good game management skills. We can mix and match it which is important.

What a terrific win that was!
Unlike us to concede but given the change of formation, away from home & on a plastic pitch all is forgiven
I didn't watch but by the sounds of it we adapted well into the 2nd half and remained resolute. Its so good to hear about the so called dark arts being applied, all too often in the past we've been "too nice" & missing that savvy to waste a bit of time, all starting with the s***house dibble collapsing on the floor with a straight forward save - love to see it, a bit of gamesmanship.
By the sounds of PB post match interview it appears as Kandola injury isn't serious which is a relief as he's been an absolute gem of a find & he's what 20 years old ? To be at the consistent level he plays at for such a young man is a great sign to where his career could head.
Right, so were top of the league heading into a back to back pair of home games.
It drove me mad peoples comments and posting on social media that we'd now walk the league and have it wrapped up by March ?
All then to lose to Rushall. Have these people ever watched football before? Football at the best of times is a roller coaster and unpredictable, nevermind the NLN which is the closest league table ive seen for many a year.
Serious q - when was the last time we were top of any league table? (Apart from December just gone)
Its an old cliche but it literally needs to be taken one game at a time

Just had a look at the Past Seasons section on here and was slightly surprised by this. We were top after 2 games in the year of the FA Cup run and top after 1 game in our first season in the North.Golin Cordon wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 10:18 am Serious q - when was the last time we were top of any league table? But if you discount these and look for when we were top at a meaningful point of the season, I think the last time we were top was after beating Wrexham in the penultimate game of the 2012-13 season, unless I've missed something.
How on earth do Scarborough get away with that pitch? Don't think I've ever seen such a tatty/dilapidated excuse for a surface to play football on - absolutely tinpot ! Makes the result all the more rewarding - so much for artificial pitches being the future of the game at this level. Great result, but not sure about PB's decision to go with a back four, maybe lesson learnt - but Foran has gone back so there's limited cover. Still think we need that striker though.

Exactly my point why I got rattled by fans saying we'd now have the league wrapped up by March after being top for 2 minutes to then lose at home to the team bottom of the tableAndy Harrier wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 10:27 amJust had a look at the Past Seasons section on here and was slightly surprised by this. If were top of the league by 10 points with 5 minutes left of the last game of the season I may get excited
Amazing result and exactly the kind of match we've drawn or lost for many seasons.
I have to say that the quality of recruitment has been incredible. Devine and Kandola were incredible finds & have we ever had such a high number of excellent midfield options? (And that's not even including Summerfield).
It's still going to be tough winning the league. Both Brackley and, even more so, Chester are emerging as contenders, meaning at least six teams could win it, with one or two likely to go on a crazy run...
Delighted to see our attacking players smashing it, but still think we need at least one more strong attacking option as, despite some decent form, I don't think Topi is quite good enough and one injury could see us suddenly very short on options...

Related to going top in a meaningful way, I was just in my local gym with my molby era harriers jumper on and a man called me over and started asking about it who happened to be Andy Brownrigg. Very nice chap he is too.Andy Harrier wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 10:27 amJust had a look at the Past Seasons section on here and was slightly surprised by this. He said the reason he did those press ups after the Rushden goal was because molby had them doing a drinking game a few days before where they had to do press ups every time they used their normal hand to pick up their pint... Andy said he got quite drunk and kept forgetting so ended up doing lots of press ups. The good old days.
Thought that was a nice omen after a very good result. That last goal was superb.
