H & W commentator sums up AMS - didn't have a shot on goal all game, much the same as in the Darlo game. I see Johnny Johnstone scored twice today for Buxton. I honestly think PB is asleep at the wheel.
Brackley game already looking like a game too far for Harriers on Tuesday.
MotM: 25-01-25. Oxford City (A) Dibble
Moderators: harry211, harriershane, garthrockett
Big wins for Chester, Scunny and Brackley. If we don’t bring in striking reinforcements then a play-off position is surely the best we can hope for.
Sitting at home following on flash score there was something very inevitable about that equaliser.
Tuesday’s game massive.

Operation Throw Away The League is underway.
We lacked energy. Did not do anything of note in the second half. Eventually we got what was coming to us. Referee was poor but we weren't better. Oxford were beatable. We gave them the chance to beat us.
If we don't get 3/4 players in and really go for this, it's almost negligent. Hope Foulkes is okay, hard to see what happened - but a concerning sight to see him on a stretcher.

Hall and Thompson aren’t the answer, same with tope. Sorry but they aren’t.
We need a CF. That’s it and now a right wing back.
Criminal we didn’t sort out the goal
Issue in the summer cos we have been shit infront of goal
For 2.5 seasons

Same for me. Just knew that equaliser was coming...Krasnyi wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 5:08 pm Big wins for Chester, Scunny and Brackley. If we don’t bring in striking reinforcements then a play-off position is surely the best we can hope for.

Feel for Our defenders the last 2.5 seasons. The pressure for them to get a clean sheet cos of short comings at the other end of the field which don’t get addressed. Ams is a bit part player. Hemmings form since November has drastically improved thank god. We all see it why doesn’t tr ex premier league manager who worked with big Sam at Bolton wanderers? Hopefully Williams asks him some pressing questions in the interview

2 points dropped. The cynical removal of Young Joe robbed us of any invention we had!
We’re not good enough in the final third. Partly, the ponderous approach play, but also the personnel. AMS huffed and puffed, but offered little. Yes, Hemmo scored, but what else did he offer? He loses possession in vital areas and is a liability.
So now we need a defender to go with a striker. It needs to happen next week.

Gutted after that. We didn’t play particularly well, maybe marginally better than Tuesday. When Dibs saved that penalty I thought we might hold on, but as others have said it just had that horrible ‘feel’ about it that the game wasn’t over.
Oxford got a bit nasty at times. No excuses, but they got away with a few today. The ref was all over the shop. I really hope Joe is ok.
I won’t quite share in the doom and gloom though. We are in a bit of a sticky patch (they always come around) but I trust PB to get us back out of it again - he / we have done it before.
This is the same team that several managers have said is the best they’ve played. We can still do this, starting with a big test on Tuesday.
Yes, we probably need a new striker, but getting the wrong player in (see Gold) can be very disruptive too. Keep the faith!

Truth be known I'm growing a little tired of the excuses, PB references the fans concerns regarding a striker and virtually dismisses the situation as though it's not important and glosses over the inadequacies within the team/squad, he acknowledges there was a need for a second goal but not the weakness up front to score one. Tuesday will doubly difficult without JF - I'll take a 0-0 now.
A massive two points dropped. Like the Woking game last season, the marginal can end up being transformational, and moreso today. We should have won. Oxford offered nothing. Their penalty was very dodgy (from 100 yards away), and otherwise they didn't test Dibble. But apart from our goal (great recycling of the ball from Foulkes, MOTM) we didn't create.
We contained Oxford well, but in all reality they did the same to us. Did we deserve to win? Maybe? By a shade. But a better side would have put it out of doubt early in the second half, they were there for the taking and our play was hard to work out whether it was impotence or complacency.
Second half, apart from Maz, our forward three offered nothing. No energy at all. Hard to keep pressure on the back line otherwise. Like that Woking game, I wonder how much is down to Brown's subs or lack of. Where was Thompson? Or Obadeyi? Full time legs against part time ones. Instead we persisted with Dad's Army, and rather than Oxford not liking it up them, they barely noticed in the end.
We need players in, and fast - and this will fall on Brown and Holdsworth. If Foulkes' isn't as bad as we thought, we still need at least a proven winger/wide forward and a striker. A defender wouldn't be unhelpful. We should be recruiting for a promotion push and a promotion into the league above.
The referee deteriorated vastly across the game. He had a good first half but sharply degraded into inconsistency in the second period. The free kick that led to their own was bewildering, as was their penalty. It isn't why we drew - we were mediocre against a poor side - but it contributed.
After our purple patch, now may be a Brown one. It's up to Phil to dig us out of it - and sign some proven players. I'm sick of the excuses - more teenage Midlands loanees won't cut it.
