Indeed he is. But he has decided to stay put. As Harry stated, we are all heartily fed up with the striker situation. We were toothless in the 2nd half. There is also some blame to be laid at the door of the midfield players. How many times this season have we seen us spurn opportunities to shoot from outside of the box. We saw it again yesterday. We appear to want to walk the ball into the net.

Watching that back it’s even more annoying we didn’t win.
Doesn’t show the Joe incident. I’m still none the wiser.
The penalty looked soft but what a save from Dibs, particularly the second one.
They have one decent cross and score. We had loads, many of which were over hit unfortunately.

Our quality from dead-ball situations was shocking - Hemmings was the worst culprit but even Dibble's goal kicks were repeatedly going straight to touch.
Downing being rested is fine but why he wasn't on the bench given our lack of any other defensive cover is beyond me. In PB's interview he says Reynolds claimed to have played wing-back before but I find that very hard to believe as never have I seen a player so clueless of where to go (Zak was much better when he took over.)
Much like Darlington, we lacked spark across the whole pitch. At the moment it's hard to see where the lift is going to come from.

We’ve struggled with set pieces since leesley got injured and then left. Before that we had the joy of Stirling who like leesley could deliver a good quality ball into the right areas.
Hemmings set pieces and pens have always been poor yet we’ve always seemed to persist with him in them. It is similar to when storer was here when he thought he was some sort of prime Beckham on corners and free kicks when really his valuable strengths like hemmo were elsewhere

Considering highlights were from Oxford also.
Very reminiscent of last season, on many occasions.
Regarding the need for a striker, only one game next week followed by 3 weeks of 2 games, we need a striker in urgently, if only to allow rotation.

Yet Hemmo's reputation goes before him - I am sure that this season I have heard at least one opposition manager describe him as the best set piece player in the division.tonythescout wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 7:04 pm We’ve struggled with set pieces since leesley got injured and then left. P.S. I totally agree with you regarding his penalties.

It really does feel like a loss this one but I refuse to try and be so negative like some online. Its still a point.
We're in a fantastic position still & we're going to have blips now and then - As will every other team.
That being said I am incredibly frustrated as everyone else with not bringing in another striker, it feels like a long running joke.
The club are clearly trying - it has to happen sooner or later

Having been right near the cynical foul on Joe at the game, I really hope that the club rightly calls out the challenge on him, I know Phil alluded to it after the game.
The term "left one on him" didn't do the foul justice, I really hope Joe hasn't done anything serious - The player in question could have put him out for a lengthy period of time if Joe wasn't so robust.
No place in the game for this type of challenge
What a volley by the way Joe !
Speedy recovery

I might be the only one who doesn't think the challenge on Foulkes was as bad as it sounded. No wonder we missed it from the far side, innocuous enough. No doubt an attempt to rough him up, but can't see any ref giving more than a yellow.
Had missed the AMS header as I was in the gents. Christ alive. No wonder we are all clamouring for a striker. I remember saying earlier in the season I didn't think he was that good in the air for a 'big man'. So it has proved!
About 30 hours for us to announce a striker before the Brackley game. Come on Phil, get your finger out...

Not innocuous for me. As soon as he’s seen Joe on the ball he knows what he’s going to do. Cynical. Left something on his ankle and used his arm too. At least a booking.
