I thought browns pre match was bizarre this matches it
Ellis for them yes good but he isn’t what we need
Says lack of goals from centre halves criminal
Not sure what he’s on but that isn’t the issue
Max poor hemmo below part ams non existent yet central defenders are the issue with us x
Scoring
Thompson a show for motm last week dropped
Devine dropped
No striker signed
BiZarrr stuff from brown
Zac brown is dog shit I’m sorry but he is. Criminal he even plays never mind kept on
MotM: 08-02-25. Chorley (H) Richard

It's been pretty much a disaster since the turn of the year & we've blown a huge chance to get out of this league by not addressing the one, single, blindingly obvious issue.
Our striking options, for a team serious about trying to get out of this league, are simply inexplicable.
What a mess.

I was thinking the same. I'd only Summer field had not been injured. Things might have been very different and we'd be playing teams off the park.
Instead we're a 'lump it and play off the second ball' team. Except we're not very good at it.

Home form not good enough.
Too lightweight, poor in both boxes.
Still totally reliant on Hemmo.
Points tally against the top 6 clubs awful.
Same old, same old year after year.
Davis and Zac truly truly awful today. Not good enough for a top 6 side let alone a title chasing team. Davis replaced Byrne......its almost funny.
Sign Kellerman and he can't get in above those two...jeez.
Finally play two up top and then don't play with wingbacks....no Devine?? Assume Thompson injured?
Moves best centre half out on right and brings in a kid to the middle....
Another kid up front on loan.....is that really the best we can do?
Chorley had a will to win...their number 3 was head and shoulders (literally) above anything we have.
Even if we fluke (unlikely) a play off place we all know what will happen.
Big rebuild job, can't see McNally and Richards stopping next year and rightly deserve a move up. Of the rest, only Dibble, Devine and probably Hemmo would I want to see next year.
Brown got us a win at Hereford, should have strengthen after that but instead thought he'd cracked it....far from it.

As others have said, all a bit strange.
All sorts of rumours about Thompson floating around - may be Brown just didn't fancy him against Chorley.
I assume the side was chosen to respond to Chorley's perceived style - although today they probably played as much football as Harriers. The whole match was scrappy but we know that suits Chorley.
Robinson gave every impression of not having played with the rest of the defence before which probably cost us the first goal. That said, he showed flashes of quality particularly with some of his passing. I didn't see exactly what happened for the second goal but it seemed soft.
I thought Caleb was our best player by some distance - at least until Max and Devine came on. AMS sadly poor again and seemed to have lost a yard of pace (if he ever had one). Our midfield was poor - playing Reynolds in front of Davis and Brown didn't work. I thought the yellow card against Reynolds was soft and that may have effected how he played. I could understand why he was subbed for Max - but that still left Davis and Brown on the pitch!

Can only echo much of the above comments. Baffling team selection and tactics. Completely toothless upfront. Largely anonymous midfield ( was Davis really on the pitch?). A defence that always seem to have a mistake in it.
Morgs looks completely shot. He should never have been expected to play 90 minutes every match this season. 60 at most but preferably on the bench to come on as an impact sub with 15-20 minutes left. He needs a rest now. To start him at Chester would be negligent.
No Seb? I wonder if there may be truth in the rumour he’s on his way?
To start without Devine and Kouhyar is inexplicable.
A word in defence of Zak Brown who, I feel, comes in for too much criticism. I think, because of the position he plays in, he’s involved in the game more than any other player so the mistakes he does make and the occasional poor decision making are so much more visible. I thought he had a better game today than Reynolds who, like Davis, never seemed to get involved in the game.
A word for Chorley. A much better footballing side and far less reliant on physicality and the ‘dark arts’ than in previous years. Far more savvy and streetwise than us and with a manager who clearly understands the nature of this league, unlike our manager, I’m afraid. I wouldn’t want to have to face them in the playoffs though at the moment I don’t see us being in the mix anyway.
So many missed opportunities this season. On and off the pitch.

It was definitely a gamble to start Robinson as he could hardly be expected to be fully acquainted with his fellow defenders and goalkeeper. It did seem he was static for Chorley's goal after only 7 mins, but it's hard to be too critical of the lad. He made a superb block tackle in the 1st half on the edge of our box to prevent a goal-bound shot. He distributed the ball tidily and looked comfortable in possession until a couple of dodgy passes in the second half before PB changed the set up. Robinson also showed he has a potent long throw - which of course we chose NOT to use in the attacking third!
PB bemoans the lack of end product from good crosses and also bemoans the lack of goals from our central defenders. All too often there is nobody anywhere near the good crosses and all too often our set piece deliveries do not clear the first defender for our centre backs to attack.
Young Charlie Lutz came on for Amari - not blaming him but no impact whatsoever. We need a spark to re-ignite the season. Maybe PB could do some man management and have sweet words in the ear of the returning Jack Lambert. This time last year Lambert was arguably our best player under Brown when he first arrived. There is a good player in there somewhere if Lambert can be bothered and if PB showed a bit of faith.

Just watched PB’s interview. He doesn’t understand, with the quality of balls into the box, that we aren’t getting on the end of them. Really? Maybe not enough players in the box? Players not attacking the ball?
We do definitely need to be scoring more from set pieces. We never look like scoring from a corner. Do we practice these?

My take on today, strange line up from the start. Eventually put wingers on but take off AMS, arguably ur best header of the ball. McNally at RWB struggled and was knackered after 45. Just shows you how hard the wingback position is and you need to be an athlete to play that role. Time to go to a back 4 in the short term IMO

I can understand that AMS as club captain wants to play every game but in recent weeks he has looked very tired and in my opinion needs a decent rest to lift his game back to the level we have seen earlier in the season. Playing alongside Hemmings it would be reasonable to expect that by the end of the season they will have contributed 40 goals to our cause but it may not be enough to get us back to the NL.
Of our three away games - Chorley, Chester and Alfreton I had hoped we might accrue 7 points but after today that cannot be better than 6 and the hardest of those games has to be away to Chester. Surely we cannot start with AMS - he needs a decent rest. Can PB come up with a winning solution from the squad we currently have? I hope so.

Ugh. We can all see it. The same old problems.
No alternative to AMS, despite the fact he is nearly 36 and being asked to play every game. It’s almost getting cruel now.
And not being able to beat those sides who don’t come to Aggborough to play pretty football. Chorley had their usual game plan and made sure when they got ahead they slowed the game and used the “dark arts” well (which is fair enough - we simply need to prevent them having the chance to do so).
I understand the initial line up. I said last week that we had too many wide players and no support for AMS up front and we should try 3-4-1-2, with Hemmo closer to Amari. We did that and benefited when Hemmo was in the middle to score.
I also get using McNally at RWB and three big centre-halves (ie not including Caleb in the back 3), to counter Chorley’s height at set pieces. That left the choice between Caleb and Devine at LWB. Horses for courses today. It didn’t work, but I get it.
The positives? Downing’s ball that led to our goal was outstanding, Robinson also showed good distribution and when they came on Kouhyar and Devine showed why PB should bring them back in on Tuesday.
Before Christmas Brown and Reynolds were outstanding for several games as a two in midfield. They have both struggled a bit since and I don’t think PB knows anymore what his best midfield looks like, which is a worry.
As it stands, we’re not going to win the title, and based on today, if we make the play-offs we won’t get past the likes of Chorley to win promotion.
But, but, but, there is still time. 18 games to go to find a formula. We have some excellent players and looked really good for a few weeks before the New Year. We need to be that team again. We’re not miles off. A big dose of belief, and a bit of luck, will go a long way to getting us where we want to be.

Didn't see Lambert, strange because Steve at Darlington said he had gone back to us?

It's all about bit doom & gloom again isn't it after another disappointing result. The deserved something from today's game IMO although not at our best by a good margin.
Agree comments RE AMS - The poor bloke looks knackered, he doesn't seem to be winning much in the air when the balls are played to him.
A lad of Lutz size in this league can't be a like for like replacement for AMS - again pointing to the fact we need more options.
The young lad Robinson initially without seeing him kick a ball I was dubious as he looked like a kid playing centre half in the NLN, I was expecting the worst.
The goal aside I thought he was excellent all things considered and will go far in the game. A great tackle to nail one of their forwards an effort on goal and some neat passes. Very impressive for a lad of his age on his debut.
Brown was poor today, Davies it feels like has gone backwards since the opening stages of the season, Reynolds not great. Kellerman not getting a look in. I feel for us to do well in games then the midfield pairing needs to be on form - we were all singing and dancing about the Reynolds / Brown partnership over christmas.
We haven't blown it or lost the league, we're still very much in it where the league is there for the taking. Recent form however is concerning & not signing players when rivals seem to be doing well is also a frustration.
A 6 pointer Tuesday versus Chester - 3 points and wouldn't the picture look different then. We can hope
