Oh dear…. where to begin. I understand the starting lineup and formation - try to keep it tight and match the physicality of Chorley, then have the option to bring Maz and Devine later on in the game to offer some pace and quality against tiring opposition. Had Maz’s shot been a few inches to the left, it may have been a very different result. As it was, it ended up being another classic Kiddy performance where we’re too lightweight, too nice and lack the creativity, imagination and guile to break down a hardworking physical, streetwise side.

Chorley played as expected and were aided and abetted by another criminally poor ref.

Robinson looks like he could be a useful addition, though his positioning and tracking of Chorley’s number 10 was poor for the goal. That said if Zak Brown had chosen to do something different than jog alongside the Chorley player and let him make the cross……a moment which summed up another weak and anonymous performance from him. Davis was somehow even worse. AMS looks knackered (as he has done for a few weeks now) and was largely ineffective (as he has been for a few weeks now) When he was subbed off we may aswell have played the last part with 10 men for all that Lutz offered.

Not sure where we go from here….the most Kiddy thing imaginable would be to go win convincingly against Chester on Tuesday.

Their first looks even worse than it did yesterday. Two players fail to even make an effort to prevent the cross. Two more completely fail to notice the two Chorley players waiting for the cross. Our goal was excellently worked. We have to do more of this. Downing can pass a ball, Richards can get behind full backs and look what happens when we have two strikers attacking the ball.

Second half was the worst I’ve seen this season, not quite sure why brown took Reynolds off of all people. Maz and Devine come on and they’re tasked with lumping the balls into hemmo who doesn’t stand a chance against their cbs. Tactics completely wrong which is shocking considering we knew how Chorley would play

I know they've had a change of staff, but is anyone else frustrated by how the highlights are cut. Commentator regularly cut off, clips aren't given time to 'breathe'.

Beyond that - great run by Hemmo to get on the end of Richards' cross. How rare is that to see?!

This appears to be the case according to the Darlo forum.

He was sent back to make way for a striker - Hazeem Bakre - to come in on Friday.

Unless he’s drastically improved his fitness and attitude I can’t see we can make much use of Lambert.

Wasted season for lambert unless PB and him can settle their differences. Don’t think he done that bad at darlo but I’d imagine they don’t wanna pay his wages

Lambert being recalled by us according to the darlo tweet does not read to me that darlo wanted to send him back he was recalled by us for what ever reason
Would he be a benefit? Possibly, in the ten or out on the left. It’s another option, better than what we have coming off the bench. Tope and Lutz aren’t going to change a game in our favour. Lambert might.
New lad at fault for the first goal but before thag brown was no where near the crosser, was right infront of me. Weak as piss.
Downing didn’t show the thou shall not pass clean sheet mentality as Ellis got infront of him for the second. Again weak as piss. Might look nice on the ball but he has a clanger in him. Why did we allow Pearce to go to bring him in? Bizarre
Dropping Devine and moving McNally outwide was criminal. We looked better when CR was moved to CB and Devine on. McNally imo has been our best CB why move him out? He looked battered after 40 mins. Why did we bring a cb in? Surely a right back was priority?
Where was Thompson? Mental
Why isn’t Kellerman playing? Another bizarre move
Brown will always play sadly even though imo he’s a bencher just like our club captain should be
How many defeats since start of year? No where near good enough
PB seems to have lost it a bit. Not addressed the bleeding obvious and his last two interviews have been very very weird. Having a pop at centre halves for not scoring? Jesus.
Tuesday i can see us being pumped 3 or 4
At this rate we’ll do well to nick 7th

Dont think he has dropped any weight according to some lads on the Darlo forum!!!

I still haven’t given up on this team. Most of the current problems seem to be confidence related - we had a bloody great run but it’s over. There’s still time to turn this around and from what I’ve seen we are more than good enough to do so.

It wasn’t that long ago that every manager we played against was waxing lyrical about how great we were. Brown and Reynolds were bossing other midfields. We looked tight at the back and potent going forward. It was good to watch.

Losing Joe was a big blow. PB needs to find a new formation that works. The biggest decision is dropping AMS as captain. It might be time for a rest, who knows? He also needs to find a place for Devine - when he’s been on it he’s been our best player this season IMO, a class above.

Tuesday could define the rest of the season - I haven’t seen a team yet we are not more than capable of beating.

I don't think it helps that we no longer have a settled back three. To my mind, the strongest line-up is Kandola, Downing, McNally. I suspect it's Downing's fitness that is the issue.
Just recently, Kandola has played left, centre and right of the three / Caleb gets put in as left of a three / McNally goes to right wingback.
That "clean sheet mentality" gets put under pressure.
With the solid defence we had until the end of 2024, the midfield played with more freedom.
Get that defence settled and we can go on another run (whether or not the centre-backs are scoring goals).

Regarding PB saying that centre back should be chipping on from set pieces.....

Who organises the set pieces??

On corners, we seem to flood the six yard box with players. Wouldn't it be better to drop a bit deeper and attack the ball from a running jump. Isn't it easier to jump higher with a run?

Whatever we are doing we need to change it. I barely even get excited when we get a corner. We never seem to get to the ball first - or second. I know you can’t score off every one, but a few efforts on target wouldn’t go amiss.
