Darlington too with £186,000 raised I think, from the email I got.Flintshire Harrier wrote: ↑Sun Jun 01, 2025 10:06 pm I see Chester have introduced the ‘Boost the budget’ initiative again and the target is £125,000 this season. They raised £106,000 last season.
Is this something we could do or need to do?
Over a 1,000 season ticket sales so far too. They’ll be up there next season no doubt.
We tried it a few years ago and I’m not sure it broke five figures.
Obviously Chester and Darlington have both had their issues in years gone with owners which resulted in the clubs falling into the hands on the supporters trust. I think that changes the mentality of some, knowing that if they do not stump up a few quid the club will have a challenging season. That is also literally true - I think the Darlington BTB constitutes a huge chunk of their playing budget for the season. Perhaps there is also another angle of knowing if they don’t finance the club, it might fall back into private ownership and with it come the problems they’ve not long been burned by.
I think that contrasts with the situation we are in, where we have an owner willing to finance the club an investment therefore asking for more money on top of a season ticket could be seen as cheeky by some.
Personal thoughts only, of course.
