Can I just say that the game yesterday gave a perfect motivator of why we should want to get out of this league? I'm no football snob (really liked Needham last week) but Peterborough yesterday is among the worst grounds I've visited.
A set up that is punching well above its weight in terms of infrastructure (they struggled at times to cope with a crowd of 350), with only one decent terrace (I didn't sit down, others can comment on the view from the touchline), and in a really difficult part of town. It felt like they have raced up the leagues without the infrastrucure and patched bits of it up to 'make do'.
Fingers crossed we won't return - having said that I'm sure we will!

It's improved no end Harry.
When we first went there 2 years ago it was just the two stands down the sides, Rusty fencing and a ploughed field for a pitch.
Now they have stands on all four sides and the one we were sat in has had a new roof, new seating and been painted. New fencing all round and a newly laid pitch with drainage that was done during close season.
It's got a long way to go than be worse than Alfreton.

Thankyou - he can't come back quick enough!TWG85 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 10:11 pmGot a check-up at Birmingham on Monday I THINK Brown said. If he passes then back into full training. So hopefully no more than a couple of weeks away.Northern Harrier wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 6:35 pm Anyone know how long Beresford is still out for?
He could be the biggest difference now going forward towards a promotion push

Well I think we can say thank you to Michael Gash for the three points. By far the man of the match first half now playing in defence very little got past him. His dismissal just before half time was the turning point. Whilst I thought our win last week at Needham was good it was somewhat put into perspective by their defeat yesterday.

Watching the highlights it stuck me how Reece Devine has now come to the fore in the starting XI, ironically since we lost Summerfield. A decent number of half chances created too, that had we a decent '6-yard merchant' up front would have seen us run out winners by 3 or 4.
Strange that had we lost we could have dropped to 14th, yet currently still only 5 points off the top! We really need to keep this mini-run going now, seeing Alfreton above us in NLN leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

Just watched the Phil Brown post match interview. Did he really say that if he was offered a guaranteed nine points from the next three games or a guaranteed three clean sheets he would take the clean sheets? Does he really mean that he would prefer a 0-0 draw to a 4-3 win? Probably not. But his obsession on stopping the opposition perhaps explains why we have not improved up front. Until we can find a striker who can finish regularly perhaps we fans should work on a "One-nil to the Harriers" chant as it will be the best we can hope for.

Currently second equal best defence (Scunny top, we're equal with Curzon) equal ninth for goalscoring.
Says it all.

All history now to us, of course, but seems odd that while he takes responsibility for the red card there is no mention of Gash's grounds for appeal. Reports elsewhere the official may have made a mistake, but if that was the case wouldn't Gash be shouting about it? Always rated him, water now under the bridge, time for us to move on etc etcPhil wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 9:23 pm Gashie to appeal red card:
