Harriers Squad 2025/26 Transfers/Loans/Rumours

I'd be sad to see Devine leave, but he's good enough to play higher and I was half expecting him to court some suitors over the summer. Thought we'd got away with it and managed to keep him but maybe not...
If the above is accurate, I hope the incoming Owen-Evans is more successful than the last player we brought in with that name.....

Keeper of the mythical and (maybe) magically imbued Lee Hughes Red Boot
Was really hoping we could keep hold of Devine, a real match-winner at this level but probably deserves to be playing higher. How many of last season’s regulars will be starting against Scarborough? Three? Gonna be confusing for us old folk.
I might be in the minority, but I found Reece Devine very frustrating at times. Clearly blessed with some pace and ability and when he chose to he could create chances by going beyond the last man out wide, unfortunately all too often he chose to opt for the easy option and pass the ball back to (usually) Caleb Richards. His goals tally was also disappointing, scoring only two goals in 37 starts - Obadeyi got five from far fewer opportunities. Maybe under a different manager with a different mind set he could push on and fulfil his obvious potential, that looks unlikely now. As with Ash Hemmings it looks like AM wants to purge last seasons 'failures' (his words) and have a complete new team, begs the question who's next - Joe Foulkes? It's quite possible the only starter against Scarborough that figured for Harriers last season might be Dibbs!! To me that looks a bit risky.
Excepting Dave Worral, who admittedly was only on loan.harry211 wrote: Mon Jul 14, 2025 10:22 am A shame if so - but a good bit of a business that. Pick up a player for free - sell him for money (hopefully a decent figure). Best crosser of the ball since Martin Brittain?

The guy on twitter who seems to be very much in the know says nothing in it. There's interest but nothing anywhere close to him going
Whilst he came close to signing twice KW never attended training ground last season. Mooney on the other hand trained with us before signing for ChesterPhil wrote: Fri Jul 11, 2025 3:02 pmThat is so full of contradictions/mistakes.Phil wrote: Fri Jul 11, 2025 10:42 am https://harriers.co.uk/news/2025/07/10/kurt-willoughbys-a-harrier/
"I'm really impressed with the training facilities" Yeah well you did train there last season.
Sounds like our first game is at Scarborough. "It'll be tough going there but I'm sure the lads will be up for it"

Like jayKHFC said, it is depth and competition.harry211 wrote: Mon Jul 14, 2025 9:10 am Would he necessarily be cover? Given Murray's penchant for Fylde/Eastbourne reunions, should Devine be worried?
What if Devine gets injured suspended or has a poor run of form?
The squad depth is really taking shape now as we didn’t really have a great deal last season
Downing as back up to the cbs, an unfit rushed back beresford to a cooked ams, tope for maz or hemmo….
if you couple goals with clean sheets you've a recipe for success

I'd be very surprised to see a higher level club take a chance on Devine.
Don't get me wrong theres nothing more I love to see than an inform Devine hurtling down the wing and whipping a pin point cross in - yes he does do that fairly often - However - He can be a frustrating watch and I think we're over rating him a bit here, Mr Consistent he is not.
Southport away one game to mention, giving the ball away more than once with his 'trademark' flippy flappy stepover shall we call it. Another game he tried this, gave the ball away, then tried again, gave the ball away. Hes still very young but I feel cutting this out and having the experience of when or when not to attempt such showboating would see an improvement in his overall game.
He's unreal on his day & I hope he's with us for the duration of the season but I feel he needs to be a little more savvy / consistent to play any higher but he has all the tools to succeed.
