Prior to the KHIST AGM, the KHIST board members had discussed the desire to reopen communications between KHFC and KHIST

At the AGM held on 21st September 2024 at the Harriers Social Club this was further discussed, and our members unanimously supported a proposal to reopen communications with the football club. A letter expressing this decision has been sent to Richard Lane, the majority shareholder of the club.

The letter acknowledged that communications with the club had been strained, a situation extending back to the football club’s previous ownership and that we are keen to establish a renewed relationship between KHIST and the football club.

The letter proposed an informal meeting with the hope that it would lay the foundation for a working relationship between both parties in the future.

We are currently awaiting a response from Richard Lane regarding the offer to reopen communications and will keep you updated on this.

For those unaware new KHIST Chairman - Warwick Nash, has written to the football clubs owner - Richard Lane to introduce himself and enquire as to whether it maybe possible for a meeting between the two parties to take place in the hope that a new working relationship can be established between the trust and the football club.

I am to all intents and purposes a computer neanderthal but when I looked on the KHIST site I could not find the letter reportedly sent from KHIST Chairman Warwick Nash to Club Owner Richard Lane. Is it there? Thanks.

A copy of the letter to Mr Lane is not shown on the KHIST website.

The information shown on the website does confirm the intent of the trust in opening good lines of communication with the owner, the support confirmed by all those who attended the September AGM and that a letter has been sent to Aggborough with the hope of a positive reply and outcome.

The trust will offer an update in due course and would very much like to thank you all for your messages of support.

FWIW, as a KHIST member, I support an approach which allows Warwick to maintain a level of confidentiality in respect of his communications and discussions with Richard Lane (and not therefore publishing letters etc).

To gain influence as an organisation and as supporters of the football club, we first need to gain the trust and confidence of Richard Lane. I believe that will be easier if Richard believes he can talk openly and frankly with Warwick without every single word being repeated.

Warwick is our representative and we also, as members, have to trust him to represent us as he sees fit, in order to gain that influence, without us having access to the ins and outs of all of his discussions with Richard.

I look forward to hearing of progress in the relationship.

I hope this all goes well. Only a positive to have the 2 groups in harmony if that happens.

No response yet then. Obviously not a high priority. I would like to say I'm surprised but I'm afraid it's all too predictable.

I am sure a local business contacting the club with a view to offering their support would receive a prompt response but we are mere supporters/season ticket purchasers for decades (in my case and many others) so we apparently count for very little.

It occurs to me that if there was a healthy relationship between the owner and KHIST we might still be in the National League. An enlightened owner would welcome the contribution of those who clearly love the club and have its best interests at heart. We might for example have worked together to create a fund to Boost the Budget as other clubs have done and brought in players who could compete at National League level. Instead we seem to have a regime which zealously guards its own and lives in a corporate world rather than promoting an inclusive and diverse football club. I find this very sad.

I should stress I am an individual speaking for myself. I am proud to be a life member of KHIST but hold no position of responsibility within our supporters' trust.

Letter to Football Club Owner - an update.

In October KHIST wrote to Richard Lane to attempt to establish a renewed relationship between KHIST and the football club.

At the time of writing we are yet to hear back from Mr Lane but, remain hopeful of a reply and wish to reaffirm our position that our door is always open.

KHIST would like to take this opportunity to thank our members for their messages of support in relation to the above and would also like to remind all Harriers fans that are not KHIST members you can join your supporters trust by taking a lifetime membership for a one off payment of just £5.
