April foolery as 3 get sent off at Bristol.

According to the rules, as laid down by the Society Of Practical Jokers, April fool jokes are supposed to end at midday otherwise the jokes on you.

The only thing that I can surmise from the referee today was that he's not a very good practical joker, just a fool.

To send one player off...that happens, two off...thats hard luck.

To get three sent off in one game without even brandishing a single yellow card...then that is downright foolish.

Abdou was the first to go after four minutes when he bundled over James Thomas just outside the area when he was clear on goal...that happens.
To then give a penalty when the offence was outside the area was foolish.

James Quinn took the kick, slotting the ball past the Harriers on loan keeper, Gary Montgomery.

Caretaker manager, Ian Britton, then sent on Ian Clarkson in place of Bo Henriksen which didn't go down too well with Bo.

The Reds would then be expected to struggle with a mismatch of numbers but they took the game to Rovers and had pulled back to level terms just after the half hour mark when the ball fell to Drewe Broughton from a part cleared corner.

Drewe made no mistake from six yds out.

Montgomery was the next to go almost on the stroke of halftime when his goal kick was caught by the wind and hit the incoming Ommel.
The ball, that had rebounded back at Monty from three yds away, hit him on his arm.

All this time the ref wasn't looking but when his assistant called his attention to the incident he immediately sent Monty off...thats hard luck.

What's it make the ref?

Ian Britton then sent on reserve keeper John Danby in place of Richie Appleby which didn't go down too well with Richie.

HT. 1-1

We were really up against it now with nine men Vs eleven men.

It didn't take Rovers long to test Danby when McKeever and Thomas tested him out but Danby was equal to them and made two easy saves.

We weren't out of it though but Broughton, running onto Danby's long goal kick, lobbed the ball over the Rovers keepers head and also over the crossbar.

Bristol tried their luck again and this time they should have scored when Ommel's powerful shot flew past Danby, hit the underside of the crossbar, hit the line and was cleared to safety.

The game looked to be heading for the draw when, in almost the final minute, Astafjevs took a corner from the left and as Danby was bundled over the line the ball fell to that man Ommel again who scrambled it into the net.

As the angry Harriers players surrounded the referee in protest he turned round and brandished the third red card of the day at Ian Foster to make it his second sending off of the season.

Not even a yellow...that was downright foolish.
