Rickards signs for Redditch

Scott Rickards As expected the club released Scott Rickards from his contract today to allow him to sign for Redditch Utd for the remainder of the season.

He signed for us just before Christmas last year, for a fee thought to be in the region of 15k, from Conference side Tamworth.  Scott scored just once for us against Macclesfield but it was his superb cross that led to Jesper Christiansen scoring his only goal for just weeks earlier against Swansea.

Jesper has had every chance to prove himself.  Scotty never has!

Also on the long road out is another major faux pas by Jan Molby.

Jamie Gleeson was signed from Southampton in the close season but has yet to start in a first team game.  He has now gone back down to the South Coast and joined non-league Eastleigh Town for an initial one month loan.

I don't expect to see him back.  Another one not given a fair crack of the whip.

Initially it was thought that this exodus of players was to make way for a new defender this week but it appears that Jans original target of Simon Weaver, from this weekend opponents Lincoln, has been refused permission by his club to sign for us until after the game on Saturday.

Naturally Jan hasn't taken too kindly to that and now says that he will be persevering with the Hatswell/McHale set up for the time being.

There are also strong rumours regarding the future of Reuben Hazell.

He has yet to play a game for us since signing from Torquay Utd in the summer and has been dogged by a knee injury for some time now.  Following tests by Medics recently it seems he has been told that he may not play football at this level again and the club are now looking at an insurance payout for both themselves and Reuben.

It makes one wonder just what is going on at the club we love.  It seems to be on a headlong course to oblivion.
