Chris made a quiet comeback from a three match ban at Kettering and tomorrow another banned player, Lee Baker, will also return to the side but he might find his place will not be so easy to get back due to the superb form of loanee Danny Andrew. Danny will play his last game for us against Tamworth next Tuesday unless by some miracle we find some money from somewhere to pay his wages.
We should now have only John Finnigan missing from the team due to a sore groin. He's missed the last two games for that reason and it's doubtful if Mark Yates will risk him again just yet.
Wrexham were expected to be challenging for promotion at the start of the season but truthfully they're looking over their shoulders at the promotion pack because their form has been woeful. In fact their away form has been better than at the Racecourse and that has got to be a worry for the under attack manager Dean Saunders.
The fans are not on his side at the moment either due to the amount of players he has bought in over the last two seasons with very few of them suitable for the rigours of non-league football. Last Saturday he went to commentate at the Wales v Scotland international while his side were being beaten 2-0 at home to Hayes & Yeading and missing the sending off of Lamine Sakho for throwing punches and headbutting opponents. For that misdemeanour he got a three game ban???
Also out of the Wrexham side will be bad boy Silvio Spann with a hamstring injury. It was Spann that put David McDermott onto the treatment table for three weeks after his crunching, two footed tackle on Maccy D back in September that saw the Wrexham man sent off.
Defender Mansour Assoumani collected his fifth caution of the season in Saturday's match at Histon and that will give him an automatic one match suspension.
I'm expecting to win this game seeing as we managed to beat a far better side in Kettering on Saturday but knowing us we'll struggle to come home with a point. It's a winnable game though and I hope we do.
There will be a minute's silence prior to the game following the sudden death of the Wrexham youth team coach George McGowan last Friday evening.
Also in other news the club have today managed to re-arrange the postponed game at home to Barrow. This game was originally due to be played this coming Saturday but Barrow will be taking part in a FA Cup game at Oxford while we will now play AFC Wimbledon at Aggborough instead. The Barrow game will now be on Tuesday 26th January 2010.
