Match preview Vs Tamworth

gif

Date: 03-01-11gif Venue: The Lambgif Kick off: 15:00hrs
The rash of festive games are almost over now and all that remains is the short trip to Tamworth tomorrow.  We'll be going there on the back of three points against Forest Green in a New Years Day match that, if it wasn't for a late awarded penalty, could still be going now.  To say the game was dire would be an understatement.

Young Jamille Matt tweaked his hamstring in the game and was subbed at half time with the former Tamworth striker Nick Wright coming on in his place.  Matt also tweaked it slightly against Newport two days earlier and I can't really see him being risked tomorrow.

That will leave us even lighter upfront because Lee Morris is out for a while with the same problem.  That gives us striking options of the aforementioned Wright and Chris McPhee then because there's no one else.

Two others that missed yesterdays game could also miss this one too.  Mike Williams is still recovering from the operation to his foot and Tom Sharpe picked up a flu bug just before the FGR game forcing him to miss out and Mark Albrighton getting a recall to the starting eleven.

Yesterday our hosts, Tamworth, bought in a young striker from Leicester City.  Abdillahie Yussuf has joined the Staffordshire side on an one month loan and they're also hoping to extend the loan of former Harriers loanee Ross Atkins until the end of the season.  Ross played thirteen times for us over a two month period until his recall by Derby County because of injuries to their keepers.

They'll be without Kyle Perry, thankfully, as he serves the second game of a three match ban.  He's a player our fans have never really taken a liking too due to his thuggish and cheating way of playing (allegedly).

Along with Nick Wright we'll have two other players returning to Tamworth and eager to show them a thing or two.  Michael Briscoe and Tom Shaw are former players there and both played for just the one season and both making just over thirty appearances.

Tamworth came away from Kettering yesterday with a single goal win thanks to an own goal from the veteran Paul Furlong.  That was their first win in twelve games and even then the win wasn't down to one of their own players.

We can win this.
