Macclesfield
At The Moss Rose

29/3/03 3:00pm
The Harriers go into Saturdays game at Macclesfield with just one new name on the team sheet compared to Macc's four.

We signed midfielder Hugh McAuley yesterday until the end of the season although we seem to have plenty of those.  It might be that Brit wants cover for JJ while he's away playing for his country but that's only the one game now.  It might be that he is seen as the one to get our midfield working again but just lately we've been by-passing them anyway and just sending the ball over the top.

Macc have been busy getting new strikers in.  They signed an old player of theirs, Colin Little, and then signed that pretentious old rocker, John Miles, a few hours later.  Or was he the old Liverpool, Stoke and Crewe forward who never really played for either of the first two sides.

Just before the deadline closed they signed tichy little Ben Abbey from Woking and formerly of Southend.  The Macc fans don't seem impressed because they say that they now have too many strikers on the books and none of them can score anyway.

They also signed the unknown Vauxhall Motors goal scoring defender Matt Haddrell earlier in the week.

Going the other way was Dave Ridler.  He was expected to sign for Scarborough yesterday.

They will also be without Martin Nash and Michael Welch.  Nash will be playing for Canada in the UEFA Championship qualifiers this weekend, just like JJ and Welch is serving a two match ban for yellow cards.

Dave Smith, Chris Byrne, Paul O'Neill and Paul Aldridge are all long term injuries and will not be playing.

Lee Ayres We will have to do without Wes Morgan now that he has been recalled by Forest.  He wouldn't have played anyway because of his back injury.

Scott Stamps will play in his place because of the injury to Lee Ayres.  He had 5 stitches in a leg injury received at Lincoln on Tuesday and is not expected to play for the next couple of weeks.

Dean Bennett and Bo Henriksen will both face fitness tests before being given a place on the bench.  Of the two Bo has more chance of making it.
